I think Polwart made the most telling point. If you don't have the correct lights on while travelling between sunset and sunrise, you are unlikely to be insured should you be involved in an accident.

I would try to fit port, starboard and a separate all round white light if at all possible.

I think Walruz is now seeing the benefits of three lights being better than one.

The issue is now about the 1m separation rule. I am still struggling to find it!

The separation requirements are listed in Annex 1 of the IRPCS
