I would still prefer the Avon - a lot nearer home to get things sorted and they are built to last as you can see from the people in the USA who are so pleased with their ancient seariders etc!!!

As regards size yes it does make a huge difference. I am still amazed by how well my boat handles stupidly big waves - the problem is you have to get really extreme conditions to have real fun. Sometimes I actually prefer my 3.1m Quicksilver!!!
The exchange rate's not been missed.

A friend of mine is a Hurricane dealer and even he says the CZ7 is way overpriced. Unless you care about the graphite textured dash and baby blue A-frame, you can get the same boat in the 733 for a fair bit less. The 733 is standard Coastie kit over here. I've been on the one in Tobermory with twin 150 Etecs and it kicks some serious bootie...

The new version is a 753.. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, but I THINK the tube/hull connection is improved and a few little things. One of the local police forces just took delivery of one and apparently they love it...

The 753 is a little beamier and a little longer. The outboard extension is FRP instead of aluminum and a little more molded. Other than that basically the same boat. Straight form the hurricane factory you are looking at $95 000CDN for hull and tubes and 100 gallon fuel tank and system although it can be fitted with another 100 gallon. You are then looking at add ons A frame, consol etc. So about $40 700 GBP for hull and tubes.
