Knee hole in toooob

Dizzy Izzy is a fine vintage Ocean and her tubes are original, we keep meaning to re-tube her but our Mel is a dab-hand with a patch and up until a little accident in Jersey the tubes were holding up nicely.

I managed to put my knee through an area in the top of the mid section.

This did not go down well.

We just spent two hours on the water trying to fix it ready for some surveying tomorrow.

Suffice to say Henshaws and Tiley have both quoted for new ones!

Sounds like you need to wear some knee pads.

But they are a delicacy! Mmmm drippin.

Anyway... My knees are boney, hence the hypalon piercing action of an over-excited instructor leaping about from tube to tube.

I have a sneaky feeling the insurance company are going to call it wear and tear, which no doubt is excluded from a claim under clause yadda yadda.

Give the insurance a go - its damage that is clearly as a result of a specific incident at a specificaly identifiable time. Not like it just fell apart......

Its amazing what can happen..... full retubes for a 2 inch split for example ! (PVC tubes replaced by hypalon as well! )

Malthouse.

I'm really surprised your Knee is 'sharp' enough to cause a tear, the tubes must be a a little bit brittle for that to happen.

But of course it's a good excuse for new tubes, and anyone looking after an old Ocean is a good guy in my books.

Surprise is a mild version of what I felt when I fell inside!

The young lady on the wheel was very complimentary about the lack of swearing though.

The piercing action of my knobblies was probably enhanced as I was moving stuff around the boat in preparation for a MOB exercise. Probably.

And the winner of this weeks nobbly knees contest goes to .... the gentleman with a rib round his ankles

On a serious note though - tough luck Malthouse. I know from personal experience that Paul Tilley will do an excellent job for you

The problem we are having is the hole stops at the safety line D ring, even a temporary repair is going to need that lifting in order to get a good perimeter.

Our Mel is getting less and less pleased with the situation. Things are bad when your only hope is being baled out by a man from the insurance.

I did suggest duck tape, you can imagine how well that went down.

The Melanie has spent all day doing an uber patch, this involved removing lots of tube furniture and quite a lot of harsh language plus demands for tea.

I am pleased to report that I:-

Got in the way,
Interfered,
Made useless suggestions
& was a general waste of space.

There appears to be a certain similarity in our job descriptions, at least if one believes Mrs willk's opinion to be of value

The trick is knowing when she is in the room, anyone who watches NCIS will know about how Gibbs turns up whenever someone says the wrong thing - well she is like that only me doing something daft with a boat/engine/landrover/etc is the trigger for her to appear!
