Bass boats are just silly, IMO. Way overpowered, and all because "that's what the pro guys do".

........... however I have never been thrown overboard at speed and I bet that hurt like hell and left him with a headache for a few days

I watched a bass boat hit my rather large wakeboarding wake and stand his boat straight up and down. Doubt he will ever do that again with his trim up at that speed.

Then my friends were riding on a narrow channel in a delta and a bass boat tried to pass at high speed. Same thing happened as the guy in the video above except he wound up parked on the rock rip rap. When they got to him, he still had a hold of the steering wheel which kept him in the boat.

Fishing is often only to be considered should there be beer involved. Beer = stupidity. Another time I was at the launch ramp and a guy who could barely stand after a day of fishing states, "I am a little fu_kered up". Really? And what gives you the thought that driving that way is okay? We hurriedly left.

Forget the kill cord issue for a moment, that type of boat surely has a stability problem, the wave he hit was all of 6 inches high.

Surely they should not be able to have that large engines on if they do that

They have 200HP and can travel at 70-80mph. Bass boats can be flown with only a very small pad in the water. You have to know how to drive them and more importantly, when to trim in and slow down. Much like throwing a car into a corner, you can't be on the brakes at high speed and you can't take a 30mph corner at 100mph. Although drunk people often try.

IIRC, his LJ saved his squidgy butt. He's in a sort of recovery position so I guess they were nice enough to remove it before they videoed him and stuck it on the internet.

Friends, what would we do without them?

A friend of mine that I meet up with each year does racing and was once a world power boat champion, the only thing he ever does with his own rib, is go fast !!

Life is already too fast need to slow down smell the coffee/flowers/meadow hay, and relax, enjoy the slow lane.

V-drives drive like they are one rails. They turn so fast it is scary. You can also bounce them right out of the water with the cavitation plate. You should really go for a ride in one. They are a blast and scary fast.

My Nautique was a flat bottom boat mostly and turned like it was on rails. 45 mph to a 180 degree turn aka "Bat Turn" in its own length. Even after warning a passenger they didn't hold on tight enough and flew across the boat. I never did one again, unless it was my regular crew.

Even those bass boats as shown above handle incredibly well on FLAT water. They are designed to get to the end of the lake early in the morning and allow the fisherman to get to his "secret" spot before anyone else, then power back for the weigh in at the end of the day.
