We went to netley jumble and did some for charity, rather than a free pick they pulled our pants down, coz we turned up with a big truck and trailer they said we need two plot and stung us £80 we only used one spot which was plenty big enough, £40 to park an empty truck, if you're going to do one of these look at the plot before you hand over the money, while I'm having a little go, I emailed them a couple of weeks beforehand and got nothing, and then pay on the day prices are dearer, what's gripping me is that I'm trade fair enough but I was supporting the local events that have shrunk considerably since me and my family started doing this event nearly 40 years ago, before you all ask, I did go back and ask and just got a shoulder shrug, which says volumes about the persons I was dealing with.
Think I'll update my eBay account

I have to agree it's a bit much when everyone else has been so generous with the Macmillan rib cause I'd have thought the publicity would be more than the £80 pitch fee even if they waived one fee & gave you the other free would have been better
I've noticed that boat jumbles in general seem to be shrinking but this isn't realy the way to win people back
Maybe we need to get plenty of support on this thread & then point them in its direction see if they reconsider

Free stall space available to marine charities can't be fairer than that!
Biffer didn't mention anything about raising money for charity. If he had then as always we would have given him free space. There were at least 4 charity stalls at the Solent Jumble none of which paid for their space.
The offer of free space for charities is available at all our events.

If he would like to contact us with full details of the charity and the charity reg number we will gladly make a donation to the value of the disputed pitch.

To be totally fair with everyone, we had the odd bits which were the end of the Macmillan rib build but we also had a lot of our own bits, I cannot really claim a free pitch for that reason, what I do disagree with is paying double the price for the pitch we actually occupied , I did come and tell the guy that we were only using half of it but to no avail, most people on here know that I'm always as fair as I can be with everyone, this wasn't fair and was wrong, they should have come over and have a look but didn't, I'm assuming that Mudlarker has something to do with these events, if you are you can contact me on customribs@me.com, the gentlemanly thing to do would be to offer us the £40 back for the pitch we never used. Whisper had never done a jumble before, ask him how he feels about the experience

Kent Boat Jumble this Sunday at the Hop Farm

I have this issue with bike jumbles and is why I use my van. When I used a trailer even if it just had a bike on they would charge double. I just get as much in the van as possible now.....

Despite leaving there on Sunday with a couple of goodies and catching up with biff and Alex the jumble was pretty crap to be honest. A shadow of its former self.

I've heard back from these guys and they have turned out to be gentlemen after all and have offered a refund on the pitch we didn't use. It wouldn't have been fair to play the charity card in this case but I'm happy with a fair result

That's a nice ending. You're not quite a Charity and they're not quite a Trade Member but everyone is happy now...

And a very nice truck it was, but why didn't you stick it in the car park and save £40 ?

And did you manage to sell the wheel with the shredded tyre?

Mr Doughnut seller said he had to pay £150 for his stand, so with all that money coming in you'd have thought they could have sprung for a toilet or 2.
