You need to call the Harbour master and ask for permission to cross the shipping lane from the Camber to the small boat Channel on the Gosport side.

That's a lot more scary than it sounds, you can do it by mobile phone and it's a short hop. Go straight across from the Camber, heading to the Right of the big Green Lightship.

You'll need to do the reverse exercise on the way back.

The HM will ask you to wait if there is a ferry or other large vessel going in or out.

Use ch11 and the harbour masters call sign is QHM. You cross from camber to ballast buoy (red post), speed limit is 10 kts

So it will go something like this

"QHM rib Tigga permission to cross camber to ballast over"
QHM will respond either approving the crossing or asking you to wait.
"QHM rib Tigga thank you, out

Thanks Chris, it isnt as daunting as it sounds then...ill remember this when i goto camber. i popped the boat into Langstone at the ferryboat inn, it was quite choppy. got out to the fort, had picnic with the wife and kids, got the fishing rod out and realised i had left all my lures at home... damn... still had a nice blast around.. SR4's are great fun.

It is daunting the first couple of times but that soon passes. Just remember to start each transmission with "their boat name, your boat name" and end with "over". To end the conversation end with "out". Never use "over and out".

Sr4's are great ribs, I have one as well.
