jockey seat questions

Building a jockey seat for my 5.4sr and trying to decide what material and thickness to make it out of. Trying to decide between stainless or marine grade aluminum. What thickness of stainless or aluminum would you use. Will be 36" long, 14" wide and 19" high. Will have a 1.5" flange around the bottom and be hemmed around the top. Going to piano hing the seat lid off one side and tank will have to come out the top, it will hold a 12 US gallon tank with room to spare for length. Will also have a seat back,

thanks stan..

Bedajim knocked up a full jockey console out of Stainless one weekend. He should be able to help.

Hi used 2 mm stainless steel and put a 68 litre tank + battery (in a separate compartment) inside I made the console to suit the tank with internal mounting flanges and bracing, the seat lifted top access the filler and the back of the console was open as a vent.
For the back rest I added a piece of 50 x 50 mm angle under the trailing edge of the console and bolted a back rest to it
