It is still an 8m boat, it's hardly going to be crap. Revengers have a very good reputation as I'm sure you are aware, they are used in offshore races to great effect, it will undoubtedly be better than a 5.8m boat regardless of make in any conditions. If you are coming down here before the weekend then I am more than happy to make the trip up to give you a comparison with an Osprey.

Admittedly, but an 8.5m Revenger will outperform a 5.8m Osprey regardless of conditions.

of course!! where possible we should compare like with like!

Not sure where the 5.8 reference comes from as i thought the OP was upgrading from his original 5.8 to something larger. Wasnt the original Osprey at the start of this thread a 7.5?? but it wouldnt be the first time i was wrong!!!

7.8 It's a difficult one though, they are completely different boats. I reckon that a 225hp 8.2m Revenger will outperform a 250hp (fourstroke) Osprey 7.8m. Nothing can compensate for raw centimetres

Current RIB is a Osprey Vipermax 5.85 - which is still for sale incidently
I'm looking at the 7.5M Osprey Vipermax.

I referenced it... merely to state how impressed I was with the osprey, even a "small" one

Sounds like you've made your mind up re hull and consequently engine, though you don't see it.

Though I'd agree re 2 v 4 strokes, the suz 4 is amazingly quiet, especially compared to optis!!!!! And more than sufficient for rough stuff, which you like. If you're taking family out and then playing on your own in rough stuff, the 4s will be lovely and quiet and enough for rough. The engine suits the boat. If your racing and just want speed, then the revenger and opti probably suit you more!
