Do you think my existing 150n Lifejackets are suitable for a channel crossing or is 275n really the better option (even though i will have to go buy some..)

Thanks
Tony

275N is only needed if you are wearing very heavy clothing, or clothing which will prevent a 150N turning you over properly. So if 150N is fine for shorter journeys in the same clothing it will be oK for crossing the channel.

Well I am the proud owner of a Cougar R8 Sport... After an early morning flight to Southampton we were kindly collected from the airport and taken down to the Cougar workshop/yard. We checked over the boat and all was well. An hour or so later we had a test drive up and down the Solent (and yes you guys are right, it is choppy) and a refuel. Quite surprised at being charged £1.36/ltr... Back to Cougar for a spot of lunch, and then donned our jackets and headed off. The whole journey took two hours forty minutes, which I think averaged 41.5 knots.
We did a speed test off the North of Alderney and managed 61.8 knots/71.12mph and there was still some more to go…
The family came out on Saturday for a blast and they all loved it.
So thank you Cougar for a fantastic Rib..
Tony

I will post more pictures later on.

Hi Tony,

Just run past QE2 and seen the new boat, looking very nice and I see that you have a berth next to your mates new Viper max, you must be best buddies with Mr Trebert!

I see you were complaing about the cost of the fuel but at least you saved at least £1000 not getting the boat shipped over! and sounds like you had perfect conditions for your crossing.

We must organise some Guernsey Ribnet cuises next season.

Rob

Definatly up for some trips next year, hopefully with visiting ribbers too.

It would be a pleasure...

You were right about the Verado engine.... It has so much power it pins you in your seat!!. The most impressive thing was the acceleration from 45 to 55 knots fantastic..

Burt (Gary) PDI'd a 250 on one of ours for us - he reckoned it was just perfect for our hull, I reckon a 350 would be even more perfect!
