Not sure !!!

Leaving it is uncomfortable but once its at that point I'm not sure it will do any extra damage till the tide is coming back in. Cant expect a passer by to wait 2 hours for the tide to fix someone's boat.

Fixing it before the would require releasing the ropes. Assuming thats possible under tension the boat then slides down the wall which is not gonna be nice on his week old toobs. Then how is he to fix it? Needs longer ropes but longer rope will allow when tide is in for boat to move forward onto slip and be damaged so needs proper springs and some fenders wont go amiss either... Assuming there are longer ropes on the boat. Oh and howz he to get the longer ropes out the boat? Climb on it before or after untying it?

RIBase
I'd have left it well alone-nothing worse than getting the blame for damage caused by someone else's idiocy.

I recall tying up at a quayside one lunchtime - the tide was falling so I left a meter or so of slack lines. When I returned (early) I found that she was beginning to lift up on stretched lines - some moron had moved her a space along and tied the lines tight. Unfortunately I never did meet them!

I left well alone, if the tosser is stupid enough to put the boat into that trouble he doesn't deserve to drive it

Is this one of our lot

Or he thought he'd be gone 20mins but fell and went to A and E? You never can judge. Yes it's unlikely but I'd rather help 20 muppets so that the 21st person who couldn't avoid it received help.

Happens to the best of us and I'd hope someone would help me. I've moved plenty of ribs on the jetty.

Oh biffer . I am with wilk in his spirit of help rather than criticise ...
Anyway me and my good lady had a fantastic week on guernsey may just gone , still pretty new to it all , went over to herm sunny flat calm day . Went into small harbour not sure of etiquette so asked . Thought of everything we I could, tied up and went for a walk round . Got to the other side of the island and then it hit me .... Shit I I tied it up without allowing for the tide . Legged it back expecting to see boat like the one in the photo but all was good .
Never again will I do that but we I could have been on the
' will anyone fess up to this ' caption

Some people are beyond help sometimes. Last week I was coming back into Baiter Slip when a guy on the slip shouted across asking if we could go and tow back his mate who's jetski had broken down. I looked around and there's some fella about 100 yds away gradually being blown further and further across the bay towards the marina by the strong NW breeze. I towed him back but in honesty the water was all of 1ft deep and I barely had enough water to turn the prop in. The guy was just sat there like a lemon as if the water was 50ft deep and full or sharks or something!

I think I met you on my maiden voyage ( nacho run December ) and you seemed the decent sort . Always gather all facts available before labelling 'twat'

Can't see you having to apologise too much Biff as most are Twats.I've been known to be a twat before (more than once)and don't mind being told,if it's justified. Sod the tea I'm opting for beer.

after many years of experience I've come to realise that apologising for my comments about others is usually wasted on them, which just leads me to believe my original thoughts were most probably close to the mark

Though years of boating I will tell you how I arrived at my conclusion.
It was moored at town quay in cowes, there's about 120foot of non drying pontoon attached to the wall he tied his boat to
