Is this damage only cosmetic?

Hi

I am looking to buy a rib and i found this one for a good price but the tubes are sun damaged and i am wondering if this will have an impact on the durability or if itīs just cosmetic.

Thanks in advance

its caused by the plasticiser (which makes PVC soft/flexible) reacting with UV. If you search the forum there should be a discussion about how to treat it - I think I contributed some of the discussion if that helps.

Ultimately plasticiser migration/loss is the death of PVC tubes because they go brittle. Discoloration isn't necessarily a sign that that is going to happen in the short term. But you need to be realistic about value - that hull is worthless without tubes (it will cost thousands to replace).
