Olly Nick is talking a lot of sense and you cannoy ignore the advice of an expert.

Your'e toobs are fkkd and you need to retoob. These Chinse sibzs are not made to take the pounding an overengined Searider is gonna give it and will look worso than you can imagine!

Ask the toobers if they have a second hand set, or sell the boat without toobs. AS I recall the boat is in very good order with new toobs it would take the tresale value to it's aupper limit I should think!

Hope you are well by the way!

p.s these china sibs cost 600 dolars US at source in China so how much of that is going on toobs.

What is the condition of your existing tubeset? Is is there any possibility of repairing the existing set? Even if the existing tubes are in rough shape, it would probably be less work and provide better results, than to chop up a set of tubes (of a different diameter and shape) from some cheap plastic pool toy and try to slap them on a commercial grade hull.

Kinda like swapping a Lada motor into a porsche.

I reckon this could be your best route. Have a look at AndrewH's thread on the recovering and refurbishment of his tubes by Paul Tilley - If you PM Andrew he may tell you how much it cost him (I'd guess that it was around 1/3 the cost of new tubes)

As your boat is 1.3 metres smaller than Andrews (2.6 metres less tubing), you should be able to easily refurbish to the same standard and add new valves for less than the £1000 that you have saved up.

If you go ahead with the PVC tubes from the SIB you will:

1. Lose all the money you had in the SIB
2. Depreciate the value of your RIB

If I were in this situation I would do the following:
Use the £1k I had spare to buy a half decent bare hull with decent tubes. Then, take everything off the old fkd seardier and install it in the new one. Then sell the old hull on ebay and make back £200 or so. Based on my previous experiance, it would end us costing you a few days of your time to do all the swapping, and about £500/£600.

aktewally Nick I wasn't taking the piss out of you but bad grammar, and lack of error checking made it seem so.

What I meant to say was nick is talking a lot of sense and you can't ignore the advice of an expert like Paul Tilley,

I'd better slow up my Baud rate and insert a parity check!

Tim M's sugestion makes a deal of sense to me by the way!

funny you should ask ollyit. i am right in the middle of just such a project. new tubes for my rib were $5,600 so i am swapping my C5 tubes instead. i figured the sib was worth $1500 without the engine so it was worth it.

one thing to watch for is the camber in the nose of the tubes. i'm working around that now, but they fit great other than that. the rib hull has the slide on channels like a zodiac so that will make thing easier to configure (i hope).

here's a picture of my progress, and i planned on starting a new thread as i get some more done.

Maybe this could be a solution: http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/F150566/

How much would it cost to get the tubes put on Ollys hull?
