Is painting your plotter over the top?

I have just bought a spare bezel for my new Lowrance plotter and I am having it painted orange to match the Searider, is that a bit OT or have others done the same. I have seen a lovely instrument consul someone made on here for their Searider so there does seem to be people who like to personalise things

This first step could result in a slide down the slipery slope of obsessive personalisation. Next it will be the engine cowling, and before you know it, your entire rig will look like it's been Tango'd!

I don't want to make it chavvy or boy racerish, just a little unique and with good taste. It could be easy to load it up with nonsense, I don't want to over spec it, it's just a tender. I have already spent £3.5k on it in the last couple of weeks and there is no way I could ever recover that, I just need to use it now and have some fun in it, so Bembridge it is this weekend, SW F5 gusting 6 in that area so should be fine

I just have the courtesy lighting and bilge pump to fit, still pondering whether to use a 3 way switch or bypass all that and go direct to power leaving the smart sensor in the auto Rule 500 to do its job.

Oh! Is it worth fitting a radar arch?

You may just get away with painting orange flames on your orange hull, and an orange shark mouth on the orange bow. Just use the same orange............what orange is your Searider?

Is there a special orange? I have booked the plotter in to be painted, I am only having certain parts done so it doesn't look like an orange blob, you have got me worried now, do I need a paint code?

I was going to get a Lumishore SMX20 fitted to the transom but then thought it would be cool to illuminate the hull, so seeing if I can reverse one of their lights to use as a rear bung and bung up the fronts, I think if I got one powerful enough it coud look brilliant, I would still have one on the transom facing out, they have some that you use a control panel to change the colours, if I coud link that into the Lowrance iPhone speaker dock it couLd change with the music Here are the lights Surface-Mount e-lite

Thoroughly recommend it SR4.........go the whole way, long bendy aerials look "fantastic" from the A-frame esp if they are at different angles to each other.
I like what you're saying about getting the hull lit from below......neon tubes? Hope so dude.
Mud flaps off the transom and orange tiger striped fur over the console to finish off. Oh and massive well wicked sounds just as you moor up.
Send pics and remember don't hold back.

What shade of Orange?

My wife nearly threw me out the house when I observed her nice new "Warm hint of summer sunset" (or something like that) nail varnish looked incredibly similar in colour to the tin of Intrernational "Rescue Orange" sat on the shelf in the garage.....

For what it's worth the "Rescue Orange" matches 25YO Humber orange gelcoat nicely.
