Ireland and Fuel

Trip looked awesome and was wondering since it was such a straight cruise what the different boat and outboard combinations used in terms of fuel.

Guess you did something just over 140Nm's but what was the average speed?

So come on, HOW much juice did you use?

Speed there was around 20kn, return was 25kn. I used 120l each way. Hadd used much less, his etec is the special air burning version

I did 80nm there (started from Menai Bridge) and used 90 ltrs.

150 hp 2-stroke Mariner, on a heavy 6.5 meter Osprey Viper Max.

Heavy due to the crew I had packing for a week away, plus 225 ltrs of fuel on board!

Although, I got rid of my anchor early doors in the trip, so that saved a bit of weight.

You musta gone to bed early Pikey - I was conned into signing a non-disclosure agreement at 0130hrs when I was a little "confused"...

I used about 90ltrs each way 4up going & 3up coming back plus bags & fishing tackle

I used 97 L on the way including the river trip probably same going back.

I refuelled in Dun Laoghaire 75 litres, not sure what I used coming back as I havent refuelled yet

71nm clocked on gps to get there, filled up at Dun Laoghaire 77 litres suzuki 140 so pleased with that

Mick, assume that was the usage per outboard and not total?

Dave, looks like your ETECS were probably the most economical unless Micks total of 90lts was for both outboards as that would be amazing at 45 per motor.

On my old 6.5 Stormforce, with twin Etec 90s, the typical burn on that run would have been around 90-100L combined each way - so Mick wins

No both engines
That's as long as the guy at the fuel pontoon told me correct that's what my ticket says anyway
Hadd & kerney worked it out but I av forgot what they said
I think you do better on a long steady run it's the stop start that sups the fuel.

Mick, that's surprising how economical those Honda 4 strokes are.

Prize for most fuel efficient outboards must be yours
