iPad solution?

Anyone found a robust solution for mounting an ipad on a console and waterproofing it? I know they are out there but wonder what's rated by users?

here's a mounting solution..
Wallee iPad 2 Case | The Wallee

But I don't think iPads and the marine environment are ideally suited......

Those are a great solution, I actually had one in my hand in B&H in New York together with some wall mounts then something inside me said don't be such a pratt and pay that amount of money for a piece of plastic! The cover is very very thin and although a clever design (you have to buy each part individually so the case shown is useless without a bracket) in my eyes was a total piss take, I left it!

Check out the price of the wall brackets and anything else here, then start adding it all up, I'm not one for missing out on any gadget or gizmo as that is my hobby, but as I said this really tested my sanity and sanity won http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search...rch=yes&sts=ma

Well, after a long fight to try & phone someone with a touchscreen phone in the wet, I am going to take a slightly differnet tack:

1) buy a £12-15 handset with real buttons.
2) swap my sim card across when going out in the rib
3) Put it in an oldschool watertight bag.
4) live live without the internet for a bit

Online maps? I got a plotter a backup Garmin, and some laminated charts in the seat from the days before I had the garmin. I can live with my phone being just a phone for a day...

I have my iPhone in a 'Overboard' waterproof pouch, never ever been a problem, same with the iPads

We've got a Sonim handset that calls are forwarded to when on the water. It's tough, waterproof, very loud ringtone and loud amplification of the incoming call. Can't recommend it for anything other than making and receiving calls and text messaging though. Anything smarter/more difficult and it's useless.

Looks like you can find them on eBay from £25 upwards for the older (used) models sold under the JCB brand. Samsung also did a tough waterproof phone IIRC. Saves messing about trying to keep water off a non-waterproof phone.

Visibility in strong sunlight (assuming we get some) is not great either - get a proper Marine GPS!

Good spot, not seen that before, I do know the case is full waterproof so docking it that would do the job

Blimey, just seen the prices, add in a ram mount or whatever and they are taking the pee like the rest!

while you are at it save for a new iPad as well - can't see it lasting long in a marine environment - far too fragile - even if you keep the water out there is a big screen to crack!
