hmm, the Gunners used to recon about 22 miles from Benbecula, but the Royal Artillery (drop shorts and grid square removal services) don't have the best reputation for accuracy, perhaps Aging Youth could comment. Sadly the weather closed in on us and we only made it half way to the small group of islands and dived there rather than the underwater caves and ravines of St Kilda.

Yeh, I wasn't very clear on that. I was suggesting the distance of 20 + 20 miles each way as a work around if his insurance company didn't accept the more than 20mls coastal or the place to place in the UK.

Aye, there's a lot of drink taken in Benbecula.

From memory, I think St Kilda is about 40 miles from the most westerly point of North Uist. You wouldn't be launching from there of course. My trips have left from the top of North Uist close to the Sound of Harris. The distance to Hirta is 48 miles and it's a few degrees south of west from there.

Ah, agreed we launched over the beach at Benbecula Air Port which is a little closer.

Thanks chaps, the wrecks that had been mentioned were 30 miles out into the north sea, I dont know their names yet as it wasnt me looking at them, will find out though. That far and we'd need to going out there in a flotilla.

Visited South Uist and Benbecula on a long summer project once with school, very fond memories of it, truly beautiful, we collected some interesting Ex Mod missile debris!
