No worries here

But if you jump on people trying to give you help and ideas then you probably wont get many more replies...

Well there was certainly no intentiion to 'jump' on you. Think perhaps I need to use the smiley faces a little more frequently!

Is it named after the deer or the canadian region (Caribou - Cariboo)?

How about "Bay City Roller"? You could give it a tartan paintjob as well?

I'll get my coat...

Neither - but's it's a long and somewhat convoluted story.

God, what an awful thought. Mrs NSS was a 'Roller' fan too, so I'd better not let her see that idea

We once had a boat come in called INUIT, funny enough it was a Shetland Alaska too. Obviously was going to be a difficult sell with such a specific name, until I came up with another meaning - IN U I TRUST. Worked out well

Just a thought, but during a Mayday you don't really want to have to spell it, and you want the CG to be able to look it up on the CG66 database easily so beware of anything 'too clever' that they might enter wrong in their search.

Eh? People don't buy boats because they don't like the name? Especially a relatively inoffensive name like Inuit for an 'alaska'.?

Sorry, I disagree ... you couldn't give me a new Osprey if it was called General Belgrano

I'd buy it.

My favourite was 'Bastard Face', a Wayfarer sailing dinghy owned by a local milkman's son.

Two particularly bad names in our angling club:-
'Screemin Seamen' on a warrior 165
'Wet Dreams' on a Raider
Neither would hope to need the CG in a hurry!!!!
