He was trying to get out of his cage! Someone had damaged the padlock and it wouldn't open. I was amazed how long it took to get through the steel chain! Conlcusion: Drivers Wharf is a pretty safe place to keep your boat

They found out after looking at the security camera recordings, that it was in fact just somebody trying to lock the gate - and having not locked the gates before, had a bit of difficulty with the lock... and as such, took a rock to it to get the chain into the jaws of the padlock! Where infact, one end of the chain fits into the other....

Both chain and lock have been replaced now

What really works and is impressive is a good pair of bolt croppers on a padlock. I've used those beauties to cut through a good padlock before now like a knife through butter.
Don't know how easy they are to buy as they should be restricted.
