...in a one way trip from Ballachulish to Arran (with possible diversions) would you pm me asap.

1) First crew is being made to work by his sergeant;

2) Back-up crew's prize sheep is sick (don't ask);

3) I'm setting off to Ballachulish Sunday pm by ferry/train/coach, intending to come back Monday/Tuesday.

Met forecast is good, tides are OK and the beer is warm.

If i'd known a bit earlier, you could have come over on the ferry to ardrossan, and we could have travelled to Ballachulish in my RIB to make it a going and a coming trip

Sorry to hear about the back up crews sheep getting a geko on one would indeed be a bugger.

Yep,

I'm 15 degrees north. Thought for a minute the girlyboy option of the crinan was being suggested....... long way. still would have been up for it though.

Warm beer got to agree there with bigmuz there , it dosen't involve real ale cardigans and beards does it

...it'd be quicker to swim, even with(out) a lifejacket.

Good photee's

I indeed did sail right by your front door yesterday and today,

set of at 4.05pm from Largs arrived Ballycastle northern Ireland 6.30 yesterday.

Left ballycastle 3.00pm arrived Largs 6.30. 168 nm covered 163 ltrs used over the two days.

Huge rollers coming in from the atlantic in the north channel. travelled home up the west side of your island.
From Campbelltown to lochranza it was really big seas, so very tired (wife said I was moving like one of the thunderbirds puppets when I got off the boat). Ribcraft's Rib handled it easily.

Looks like a good run out, but you probably had the tide against you in Kilbrannan Sound. There's lots of shoal areas in there that are best avoided - they cut up a bit if there's a 'Y' in the day. Been there, done that, got the wet T-shirt.

I like the swell in the Channel - as long as it's not too steep; read one of Mr. Pike's books while you're out there. Suddenly it all makes sense.

Which t-birds puppet? Lady P, or Parker with a hangover?

(I think I'm more like Mother Tracey at the moment - more stiff bits than are strictly necessary...)

so it was all luck I wasn't swimming then!

I was buggered when I got home, my heels where and still are sore with landing after each landing off waves. The Rib was doing better with the fuel at 27 nkts if I slowed it used mose gas.I was concerned about running out.

As for T bird puppet -the one with the dodgy hairdo.

Is that Dag pike?

Tie up? Yes, but only at high water - the local 'port' is tiny. And you have to know it's there to find it; bit like that island on Pirates of the Caribbean

I can always float a tray out to you...

Shoal areas- Iron Rock Ledges, Middle Bank, Crubon Bank, Whitefarlands Bank and Erins Bank - apart from the first, you shouldn't ground in a RIB unless you've got a real problem

but because the change in depth is so abrupt you can get a sort of Corryvreckan effect, albeit the tides don't run as fast.

Save fuel - drive faster!

Remind me why the greens hate us?

They've all got dodgy hairdos!

And yes, that Mr. Pike. Should get his books printed on waterproof paper
