Ideal ribs for the Solent chop

I would be grateful for thoughts on ideal ribs for use in the Solent.
Want 7,8,9 metre size with rear bench seat for safe transport of young kids.

Anyone any thoughts on Revenger, Scorpion, Cobra or any other makes.

Many thanks

At that size solent chop or any other chop wont be an issue for pretty much any rib.

The Parker's are well within your proposed lengths and are a fabulous RIB

The Shearwater is awesome and it's a cabin rib too so you can sleep in it. If I had the money I would go for a Cabin Rib, but thats just me.

The rear bench seat is really comfortable and it turns into a dinning area too and it's also got the seating up front for the kids.

I have 5 and 6 year old children and they are fine in my Ribcraft 585 with wingback seats, but then again it is a wet boat in the wind as it has as lot of spray out the sides so when its windy it blows back in the boat. When this is the case and Trev is around then we normally put the wife and kids in Trev's Shearwater.

If you watch this video from 2:05 you will see the difference between the two ribs...

Had a look at shearwaters yesterday in Bembridge, two problems we often have 10-12 people on board to get to beach so space cabin takes up means we would struggle to get everyone in, also cabin so wide access to front of boat is compromised. The videos make them look great !

RIBase
Scorpion has a very fine entry and is ideal for solent chop.

8m should be big enough to get 12 people on occasionally. Most will have 4 jockeys and a bench.

HUMBER Destroyer or OceanPro can handle anything they meet. Heavy but incredibly solid.......so you'd need to go up an engine size from what you'd be expecting but you won't be disappointed. They also live forever.

Use it on Elbe river to Helgoland. Guess chop is of similar quality.
Go out when Pischel Bolero and Valiant come in ;-)

I do not see it being a problem with a stern drive
