Icom repair service

Probably should be in the electronics section (admin feel free to move) but I just wanted to tell people of the great service I received from Icom.
My 11 year old vhf wasn’t receiving.
Boxed it up and sent it for a quote to repair.
Was going to ring them today to see where they’re up to as it’s been a week.
Anyway, parcel just arrived by courier. 2 parts replaced and posted back to me within a week all free of charge.
Highly recommended [emoji106]

That's really very good - well done Icom. Which model do you have?

I bought an M71 handheld back in 2008 and it's still going strong, battery and all.

It’s a M411. Had my use out of it really but I just thought I’d send it off for a quote before replacing.
Glad I did. [emoji16]

Lucky you

I've just sent a 4-year old Icom ICM323 back for investigation/repair. Told it needed a new ECU at £106. Problem is, they said they couldn't gurantee that would fix it and if it did, it woukld come with a 3-month guarantee on that part only. So, faced with that prospect of getting back a 4 year old unit with only a 3-month guarantee or buying a complete replacement from Marine Superstore for £209 - you can guess what I did.

By the way, not blaming Icom, but I find the service from Garmin to be more proactive (if they can't repair it they offer you a massive (45% IIRC) discount on a new unit).

Sorry to hear that. I can only assume mine was a cheap fix.
Maybe they have a cut off point on what they’ll repair FOC?
I was prepared to pay up to £75 to repair. Any more and I would have replaced it.
Hope you have better luck with your replacement.
