Ice Princess Timber - Reporting Numbers

Hi,

Latest below from MCA regarding reporting timber from the Ice Princess. Anyone seeing any, please let Solent CG know - it is important the contractors can get as much of this cleared as possible, the rafts are quite a danger to small shipping.

The CG tug has the job of babysitting now, our Libertie is back with us in Brest. Anyone finding any on our side can let CROSS JOBOURG know on Ch16 or 02.33.52.72.13

JK - could you make this a sticky for a couple of weeks please?

TIMBER FOUND FROM ICE PRINCE

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency have this morning issued guidelines to members of the public who find timber on the coastline resulting from the Ice Prince incident.

All timber sighted must be reported to Solent Coastguard by telephoning:

02392 559021
or
02392 559022

Under the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 it is both an offence to conceal or keep possession of such cargo, or to fail to report the cargo.
Police have been authorised by Receiver of Wreck to act on her behalf, and people removing cargo from the beach could be committing an offence for which they could face arrest and a fine of up to £2,500.
Contractors are in place to remove the timber from the beaches, and therefore if anyone should sight cargo washing ashore they are advised to telephone the above numbers and contractors will be on scene to initiate its recovery.

Fair play, it gets it all off the seas.

And of course all of us on here would report it unhesitatingly given the uptright citizens we all are

Looks like timber bound for makin pallets or B&Q . Dunno what the fuss is about ,with all the warnings , you would have to be desperate to bother picking that up.
