Ah, you mean she liked the colour!

Very nice boat!

(You can now change your 'Boat:' from 'No boat')

I saw Paul Lemmer on Tuesday. He didn't seem to know whether he should be celebrating the sale or cursing for not setting the price higher!

You should have a lot of fun with that

It was expensive - double the budget I started with.

Its a Hysucat 8.5m.

We were walking around with a budget in mind, trying out a few but they were all slight compromises for what we really wanted. Then we spotted this and my wife pointed out that it was just what we are looking for. I agreed, but also pointed out it was double our budget. One test ride later we bought it.

The decision was made due to the test ride - which was outside the harbour, so we had a real go in it and by the fact that the layout / space / finish / look was perfect. Oh, and the fact that its so fast - my wife screamed for most of the ride, I just grinned from ear to ear.

The things I liked were simple things like the fact you could walk to the front of the boat without a squeeze between the tubes and console. I loved the wrap around seats at the front, the anchor locker, the width of it and the ride. Oh my god, the ride.

It was quite choppy on Monday, but on our ride I glanced at the GPS and saw 56 ish - but the whole thing felt smooth. It got up on the plane quite quickly and very differently to the other RIB's Ive tried. It just rose up flat, no nose in the air.

My wife liked the colour

(oh, and Paul is such a great chap to do business with)

New boat

Wow !
I dropped a customer off at Heathrow yesterday and REALLY didn't know what way to turn out of Terminal 5....Left to the boat show or right and home to Cambridge. Bloody glad I turned right as I know I would have done the same and my mrs would have made my life even more of a living hell !!
Have loads of fun and I will keep scouring all the scam ads for a new boat just outside my budget..

Me too, I thought you were about to show us a key ring - which in a way you have, a very fine looking boat, with two keys on the end to make it go...

I need to find a nice big empty lake where I can have a go with it first.

Im not sure just how fast it will go - Ive read an artical that talks about 63 knots in the rough and 70 in smooth conditions !

Id better start saving now for the fuel bills.

I also need a towbar, boat cover, insurance, and probably a whole list of other things that I dont even know about yet.

Careful with the insurance, many only cover you for coastal waters up to 10 miles offshore, and will only pay market value in case of a total loss. Make sure you get adequate cruising limits & an agreed value.

Ps I doubt you'll find any lake in the UK that will let you do justice to your new toy, you need salt water. Don't know where you are, but the Menai is about the closest you'll find to a decent lake.

When you're looking for insurance make sure you tell them how fast it is.
Many policies / insurers won't insure boats over 50 knots - or impose additional conditions.
Tell them at the outset then it avoids difficult conversations if you need to make a claim.
