Hysucat rib

Hi all,
greetings from Downunder,.
I was contemplating buying a used ZAR 53 from Italy but am becoming discouraged by all the red tape I have to go through to get it into the country.
I came across this rib and am now considering buying it.

From the research I've done it seems to be a good design and offers a lot of advantages of a conventional hull but am interested in any feedback be it positive or negative about this type of RIB.

I have recently bought the 8.5m version.

I have only had the chance to use it once on a demo and once since then just briefly so I cant really tell you much about what its like to own yet.

From what I do know it does not requrie much power to get up on the plane, mine seemed to pop up at very slow speeds very quickly. (mine is fitted with twin 175's) It also rode very smoothly. At the boat show in the UK I tested several RIBs in on choppy windy day - the Hysucat was significantly different.

From the research I did the main points were its speed, ride and economy - which are all due to the hull and hydrofoil design. Its also well laid out and makes good use of its shape - the wider front is put to good use and things like the lockers and console are pretty good. Yours is slightly different to mine, but looks very nice.

Now Ive had mine at home parked on my drive for a while Ive been all over it fitting extra bits I can say the build quality looks very good. Solid but not agricultural. Well designed and no evidence of cost cutting in the places that are hard to see.

There are not many about, so its hard to get lots of feedback and Ive not seen any for sale or on the water.

Yours looks very good. However its hard to compare prices as they are so rare. Basically mine met all the criteria I had when looking for RIBS and had the added extras of its speed and layout. Looks are subjective of course, so thats down to you.

See if you can take it for a test.

Not had much to do with Multi Hull RIB'S,and I've never driven a Husseycat...although I did have a look around yours at the Boatshow.
Seems they make a lot of being Fuel efficient in their Blurb...?!
Strikes me that's AFTER you get over the Fact you have to FIT/BUY TWO ENGINES in the first place!...WITH all the extra exspence that dictates....not only in terms of Buying and running 2x engines to begin with... but Rigging x2-Serviceing /maintenance x2-plus ect.
To me you could buy one Hell of a lot of Fuel! for THE SAVEINGS made buying Mono Hull! i.e running One Single.... which you just don't have the option of doing with a Husseyat.
Unlike a lot of Mono Hulls where,if you wish you can run either....but even then, I would'nt imagine the money saved??- Fuel saveings/ect would be a deciding pluss factor.

Maximus, you can have the boat with a big single outboard. I had a ride in an 8.5m with a 300 Suzuki at Seaworks in 2012

Yup, it pays to ignore the marketing blurb. I take it all with a pinch of salt and certainly didnt buy it with "economy" in mind

But Im also not expecting to do anything boating wise thats economical, just fun.

Mine originally had a single mounted on it, then they put the twins on it for the boat show.

From what I read its better to have twins with twin hulls - something to do with drag. (nothing to do with money)
