In Switzerland I hear they have cows with such things round their necks so you can imagine what a racket is created by a passing herd. Now if a fleet of ribs were to be equipped with such say in the Solent then for sure they would be banned forever. I for one would not like to put that to a test.

Glad to hear you have removed the clanger, tradition/superstition had whislt I was in the RN, if the ships bell rang at sea (not including watch changes) then it fortold doom.

I picked it up in a junk shop for a fiver and fitted it or a laugh. It cost me more to buy the little rope and get a name engraved than it cost to buy.
