I agree. The other problem is that it has traction control which cuts engine power massively when the wheels are skidding. I was wondering about trying one of these electric winches that attach to the towing hitch. Anyone any experience of them?

I have just seen the posts about performance with a 160hp. I am not a thrill seeker looking for out and out performance but would like a competant cruiser, that does not struggle to plane, with a good range, that will have sufficient power in a heavy sea. Will it fit the bill?

The RIB international review of the ocean pro 6.3 with a volvo 130hp described it doing 25 knots with 1800kg load and over 30 knots with the equivalent of eight fully kitted divers (790kg). The 6.3 is not much lighter than the 7m and has a similar length hull as it has less of a tube overhang.

It'll be fine. The diesel will have good low down power and it'll slog, it just won't be fast. Cruising at about 30 is ok. It's just not as much fun as going faster.
