ANY ideas how much my boat worth???

2000 7.5m scorpion on a trailer. Outboard well and backseat 2 twin jockeys and 200 optimax with 200 hours on it!!

my ideal boat. let me know if you're selling. it's worth about £1-£2.

whilst i am not looking to change the RIB, i am serious that a 7.5 scorp with an opti is indeed my ideal boat, and i would be interested.

Why are you getting rid? I agree with Dan that that is a really good boat, if only I could afford one...

ive fallen in love with a cabin rib!!! But yesterday i was told my boat was worth very little as it had a 2stroke on it!!! but at between 4-6 gallons an hour between 35knots to 45 ish knots on a 2t boat surely thats pretty damn good!!! Optimaxs are great in my opinion!!!!!!

I presumed around £21k ish to sell her but the prices this guy spoke of woulda priced me out of a new boat!!!

There's a guy on here trying to sell an 8.2 Osprey with twin 225's on it for £12,500, different rib I know but it might give you an indication.

you're boat is worth 20-25k i should have thought, however there are a lot of cheap boats about, so in reality to shift it you might be looking at the lower end of this. i think Brian's valuation is a little high.

i noticed quite a selection of tasty "big" ribs for under £20k in R.I. mag this month.

Call Jim at Bembridge Outboardss - Shearwater is what you need !!!----- all the speed of the scorpion , but with a little more shelter ( I would say that tho ! )

Your link makes interesting reading - I didn't know Shearwater ribs. One thing I found interesting was the specs. of the boat of the boat put it in the same league as many of the other big players you often read about, but this is carefully descrbed as having an RCD category C rating. Most of the others have a category B. Now we all know that these ratings mean very little practically, but this detailed explanation (they don't just state Cat. C, but also go into some depth as to what Cat C. means and the kind of seas you can use it in) is interesting.

Having said that, some of the reviews talk of trips having been made all around - Wales, and Southern Ireland.

One thing I am not convinced of is what, in the picture, looks like a stepped hull. A concept which, BTW, has been violently slated (being described as showy nonsense) in this month's equivalent of Rib International. They consider it as being dangerous when loading onto trailers, and ridiculous on a rib in heavy seas - comparable to having a spoiler on a Land Rover! Albeit, they accept that the stepped hull has its merits in racing. The article also shows a picture of a stepped hull rib turtled and remaining so.

Having said that, I like the look of the Shearwater.

In fairness though once you have turtled any rib its going to stay there (without a self righting bag or airtight superstructure. The shape of its hull makes it no more (or less) likely to remain inverted. Albeit that some hulls may make you more likely to get there in the first place.

well thats you off HMS' christmas card list... He likes to claim that RI is the "ONLY" international rib magazine and the world's number one dedicated rib magazine and therefore presumably believes it is without "equivalent".

I read both for a balanced view. And also because the sea in the Adriatic is very different to those around the UK and C.I.'s. It's a bit complex to translate a lot of the article but they go into details about the water not being constant on the surface of stepped hulls, and a lot of other techy stuff. It seems they are not happy about (i.e. a lot of sales blurb about nothing) this mania of stepped hulls in the UK and Greece.

I know that Hot Lemon (Scorpion Cabin) as a steped Hull and she cant get on the plain untill about 28 kts and the ride is very hard, aganst the normal deep V hull being a bit slower in racing condisions but a lot more forgiving in the other 99% of crusing you would do, Ribs being what they are i cant see the point in having the steps, if you want more speed buy a bigger engine.

the Italian article (which is very good, BTW) and my conversations with rib manufacturers have convinced me of your opinion, too.

BTW, be interesting to know at what speeds other boats get on the plane and stay there?
