Is the stuff you got at a good price. If you think you could have a better deal by placing a new complete order with someone else then try to back the lot. That is if you haven't used what you have from them. This may prompt two actions.you may get a full refund as part of it is not what you wanted or they might stretch a bit further for your trouble.sounds like they gave you an offer they couldn't afford

I would take back what ever money you can get at the moment at least it's something, and once you have received it, then I would go for the jugular to claim the rest. I.M.H.O.

Could you contact the manufacturer concerned if you are buying through a representative of theirs ??

I would suggest you explain the dealings you have had, the parts you require and request to buy these direct at cost price from the manufacturer ?? You never know, they may even do you a really good deal

The law is on your side to the point that you could claim the difference back from them for having to obtain them elsewhere but it's a murky difficult process. I'd cut your losses and get back what you can ASAP then order the parts elsewhere.

Once you've done that you could try going back to them for a refund of the difference by trying to "call their bluff" but I doubt it would work.

At least it's some of your money back though which is better than your concerned posts of taking the hit.

Just double check they are refunding you the correct amounts for the parts they have failed on as if they were being bought separate, as that's what they are refunding you on. If they prefer offer to return everything (even if used) for a full refund then shop elsewhere as really that's what they should be doing if it was a single transaction of a kit. If each item is displayed and priced on the receipt then it's different again

Its not clear cut. It will depend on their T&Cs of sale (if they can at their discression choose to part fulfil an order and cancel the rest). Personally I think I'd get their refund and live with the cost hit, but perhaps not be so shy about naming the person who's just made more money out of you than he deserves.

I quite liked biffers suggestion of saying - "no it was a package you take it all back for a full refund", but I don't fancy handing over the goods and expecting the cheque to arrive and clear...

Indeed. I don't really read the T's and C's before placing an order. I circulated the list to several companies and gave the business to someone who, whilst not the cheapest, made a fair offer and, in my view, deserved the business.

It was agreed as a package as I queried prices on a couple of items but agreed on a 'swings and roundabout' basis.

Yes, I would dearly love to remove the rest and take it back, battered boxes, cut wires and all but the chances of seeing my money would be diminished, I am sure. It would also not be a constructive way to move on.

From my PM's, it would seem that I am not alone in this experience!

Let's see if the refund arrives as promised for tomorrow.

You haven't really "lost" anything, IF you get the refund. If I were you I would be counting my blessings, rather than those unhatched chickens!

He has because he will have to source the missing bits elsewhere which as he has advised will cost him £175 more because he's not able to get a discount for buying the entire kit, as he did with his original order.

I think it's wrong to try to shame someone else into stepping up to the bar.
In these times everybody has to earn a shilling. I think it was not right for the supplier of his stuff to take the cream out of it and leave him short but I'm a great believer in what goes round comes round.
This supplier will get his just deserts and once this economic climate has cleared out the wrong one it will be better for us all.
