Hi Guys
Was given inspiration by a previous thread about speed and am just wondering how fast all of your boats are......
Tell Us about your boat and then how fast it goes please!!!!
Pictures would also be Great!

My Zapcat does 42mph on GPS, that was in choppy conditions and 2 rather large people on bored. Goes faster with a lighter crew!

All time best on GPS now 36.1kt normally tops out at about 35.5 ... however I have a prop with bigger teeth (and less battle scars!) which hopefully is going on this weekend so I might see a few more I hope

17.5' Polaris Aluminum RIB/Yamaha F115

Best speed was about 38-39mph with me and dive gear, and most likely a full tank of gas (50gal.) Runs in the 35-36 range 4-up with dive gear. That's assuming it's flat enough to run WOT without having pre-approved chiropractor appointments.

6.5 meter Mako with twin 90 Tohatsu TLDI’s

I get 53 mph with 35 gallons and 3 up with a light chop @ 5300 RPM. With 4 divers, 1 driver and 12 tanks I can pull about 35-38 but can only get about 4300 RPM.

I was in a7.5mtr XS rib on Saturday with a 200 mercury opti on the back and we got 56mph in it, there was a chop, would like to see what i'd get out ov it in flat calm conditions

the TLDI in the stands for Two-stroke Low-pressure Direct Injection - so no not diesel!

Is it me or can you only get a Diesel Inboard?

There was something about diesel outboards on here a while back, but they were only about 20 or 30hp I think.

I suppose weight is the killer, same reason you don't get many diesel aeroplanes...

slight thread drift here, Will - but: generally outboards are petrol. There are some diesel outboards available but they are hugely expensive, and in the UK very uncommon. Inboards in ribs are usually diesel, and in most (but not all) uk boats in general, but in the US petrol inboards are commonplace on hardboats

Ha ha yeah i am yet to see a Diesel Jet Fighter either........ Polwart thanks very much for the help but yes again we are drifting.....my fault so back to speeds of your boats

You might be surprised. Many jet engines will run on diesel.

Have had 53.2 knots, 62mph - thats with twin 150hp Yamaha HPDI engines - on flat water..

But can reach 50 knots in most water - but not fun when you misjudge a wave

With the twin 115's I had before, I got about 43.1 knots, so about 50mph
