Northcraft 5.5, 150 Optimax, 54Kts 3 up. Uses about 40-45l per hour flat out

Goes as fast on the water as it does on the motorway behind the Range Rover

Hi, yes the jet engines can use diesel but I believe Kerosene has a higher calorific or octane type content so per weight its better for flight. This is I believe its so explosive as you couldnt ignite a pool of diesel with a blow torch.

See those Diesels, seem to recall them being a two stroke diesel unless I am dreaming.. looked like a pair of Pigs to be honest, sorry Tohatsu..

Kero isn't exactly easy to ignite either - especially on a cold day!!!

The diesel ouboards that I've heard of are from Yanmar, Ruggerini & Zongshei. Very hard to find any info on the ones from Zongshei.

Ribcraft 750 Sport

In response to some of your PM's/queries:

Got 43kts (~49.5mph) out of my Ribcraft 750 Sport + Suzuki 250 yesterday. Had fullish fuel load (~200l) + 4 ppl + gear on board.
Still had 1000rpm to go, but outlaws were starting to look a bit twitchy in the back, so stopped at that.

Avon Searider Brand new 50hp Tohatsu..

I have so far got 31 knots by GPS in flat calm no tide. I expect a little more once the engine is run in.. also I am going to change the prop to a more sporty one... I am expecting 35-40 knots eventually.
Of course my boat only cost £4500.. as oppossed to the larger boats which only give you maybe 10 knots more.. You want to get a thrill take a 4m boat out in the rough stuff!!

Takes off like a rocket too-I was rather impressed on the 16/12 cruise.

My 6.5m Ribcraft with a 175hp suzuki outboard will do 45-46 knots with just me and 39 - 40 with 12 adults onboard.

Ian,

I was also mighty impressed with your boat that day. Seems like a 5.4 m Searider with a 90 on the back is a pretty good boat.
