Only 22k?

I think that a similarly specified MK II would cost more than twice this amount. How old is it?

Is the price so much less because the MKII has come out and forced down the price of the MKI? If so, the same could happen to the MKII when/if a MK III ever came out.

Chris.

Alan you are spot on. I think that the inboard diesel may struggle to reach the 45 mark with more hull in the water, and that hull looks like it has been anti-fouled. I would guess that this boat is the same year as Blue Ice from the detail, so 22k is a good price. As the boat appears to be ex-charter, the engine hours may be high, but the Yamaha 240hp has a good reputation and can clock up thousands of hours in the right hands.

RE the Yamaha,
I've got the 165HP engine on Yamaha's hydradrive leg.
I think they are good legs but remember they are a hydraulic gearbox so the first weak link is the shock drive between the gearbox and the engine. Though I was told the hydraulics absorbed the shock but the shock drive needed refurbing when we hit something.
Also check the stearing for slop, there is a seal on the transom assemble top steering bearing that can leak after a time and the steering arm is steel and the shaft is stainless and can develop some play between the two. The pinch bolt is a right GIT to get to to tighten up if the transom has not been cut away enough - after talking to Yam stern drive dealers mine was not the first time it has been heard off.

Over all I think its a good system, you hear of a lot less problems with them than the yanmar/murcury leg combo. Could this be due the numbers fitted and use? Don't hear much about volvos and steyrs also but they apear to be less popular on ribs I wonder why?
