How do you put a 'name' on your RIB?

Is there a company making Decals? Or can you get the name you have decided for your RIB on you tubes?

How's your boat named?

best to use nasdar ink, you can use stickers, but thay will peel off. on the ink,
if you get sick of it you can wash it off.

yup, you got to wash it off with asatone,or mek,a$$Holeatone as we call it, is best, mek got a lot of bite.

best to have a template made, stick that on the tube, spray it them peel the template off ,After it drys. mite have a shot of one , I'll see.
it'll stay forever or until you take it off.

the toob flexes to much for stickers, thay'll stay for a while, but not more than a season. stencel, not a template, have them make a stencel.

Not if they're made from the proper flexible vinyl. I've used them in the past and had them on for a few years with no problems.

Don't have the supplier's details to hand, but a search here would probably turn some up.

On our boats we use contrasting colour hypalon (e.g.black on orange tubes) cut by our local signwriter, then attached with normal hypalon adhesive. Works like a dream on both the (relatively) non flexing parts, like the tubes, and also the flexing areas such as sprayhood on the D class. Alternatively, have the letters stiched onto parts that don't need to be airtight, or stitched onto panels which can then be glued on.

Additionally, the boats carry their name on an engraved wooden plaque on the A frame.

Stencel (with some waterproof paint) seems to be the better option....

Where do I get the stencil made? Where do I get the paint?

Hi Shep,

seeing as you are from my home town I thought that I would mention to be most careful of Aetone for several reasons.
It will breakdown Gel, it will possibly damage Tubes I wouldnt leave it anywhere near tubes as it may breakdown the Tube suface.
It is probably a carcenogen and seems to have a flash point of 24 deg C.
So, I would not use at all only to prepare as cleaning agent prior to applying gel coat....

WIth regard to signage, you can sut out stencel of sign in contrast material colour and make up on seperate piece of 1ft X4-6 inches and attach that to the boat using a proper adhesive..

I think someone already mentioned this but I would go further and patch it on piece and then stick piece to boat.

You can get name cut by Gerber Stencel and attach to Gel Coat under Bow above waterline as in most boats that do not have Tube....

simplest method stick vinyl letters on console or stick backing patch of hypalon to inflated tube and the stick good quality flexible lettering to backing patch

well this is what ink looks like, done some free hand, and stencel,the Stencel was made at the sticker shop, it's 3 yrs old in this shot, and thay are still on thare to day, lookin about the same.

Hi Cookee, thank you for correction, I thought it made Resin soft. I recall from my younger days about "Ladies Nail Cleaner" being used to clean Crash Helmets was a NO No. Meanwhile, I am sure that it is bad for the Tubes!!!! ANy comments,

You are probably right but I seem to recall it being used to clean surface
and it thinning Resin for SLow set.

ANyway its pretty dangerous stuff with a Flashpoint of 24Deg C. It is watered down for teh Ladies Cuticles
