Oh, all right then.

Used by river and estuary fishermen of years-gone-by in poor vis.
Basicly you get to know the bark of each dog along the shore, which tells you roughly where you are.

It is not very reliable when one of them is a bitch in heat. Then all the barking comes from one place.

In thick fog and at night I have found shouting:

"HELLOOOOOOOOO IS ANYONE THERE?"

Combined with:

"CAN ANYONE SEE THE BOTTOM YET?"
