A programme on C5 last night following the ship and its crew, one searider got swamped, panic ensued in fairness it was pitch black, anyone know what training these guys have.

They seemed to be under way at the time, I'm not sure it was a swamping

Maybe they weren't paying attention in class when the subject of bungs was being covered

I'm glad someone brought this up as I made the same comment to my missus last night. Her response was that they just do these things to make it look dramatic.

I thought they had stopped with engine failure and then got swamped by the heavyish seas.

I do actually - I covered the training at HMS Raleigh for SportsBoat and RIB last year - it was mostly on Pacifics but the training is the same for the smaller boats as well.

I thought the Go-fast with the 6 outboards was a bit OTT. Was also reassuring to see how long it took one of Her Majesty's destoyers to sink a fibreglass bath tub, I particularly liked the bit where they were hacking away at it with a saw and an axe!

Bloody thing was indestructible.

When you have a "considerable" load on board and a helicopter with a high powered sniper rifle trying to shoot out your engines a little redundancy goes a long way!

And a few SBS wouldn't go amiss, wasn't overly impressed with the USCG shooting skills with the AR15 on the aft deck

I've got the same firearm and can get those kind of groups at 50 yds

I didnt get why they were using such small boats if they could have used a pac 22?

The "gunnery" was embarrassing for the UK but a great credit to ship building prowess of the local charlie boat builders, strange how there was no engine too?

Whilst they were attacking it with the axe it did not really look like it had been riddled with bullets or cannon fire. Still at least we're there making a difference.

They still use the Searider on the older ships because the davits wont pick up any of the bigger Ribs.

And i think this was the last deployment of HMS manchester before going to breakers in the sky....

On 21st February 2011, Manchester sailed into her home port of HMNB Devonport where she awaits her de-commissioning ceremony on the 24th of February 2011.

I reckon they forgot to put the drain bung in due to the excitement. It was laughable them having to escort the crew all the way home. Seeing as they found the drugs they should have sunk the boat and taken the crew onboard to drop them off later.
