Henshaws are the dog danglies!!

I have read Ste Luxton thread about the seams on the rear cones of his humber when I decided to check mine. Sure enough as I've not got a wear patch they were starting to lift in quite a few places.

As my Ribtec's a UK built one (1999) the tubes were built by Henshaws so I quickly emailed them during my lunch hour.

By 2pm I had a reply saying that they wouldn't be happy supplying ready made ones as they'd need to measure up my tubes and the like.

However, they are going to send me so off cuts free of charge so I can fit them to my particular tube size.

That's what I call service.

Full marks to Henshaws!

Yes but don't forget folks, the new bargaining chip we have at our fingertips, right here on this forum.
Many a maufacturer may be galvanised into action to safeguard their reputations, and rightly so. Well done all round I'd say, both customers and suppliers, and Amen to the internet

Yes they arguably should and I had that very discussion with Humber.

But at the end of the day with the age of the boat they didn't NEED to do anything (no idea what the warranty is on a new one but I doubt it is six years!) and they agreed to, so that is good and saves me some dosh as well as meaning it is far more likely I will spend money with them in the future, than would have been the case if they had told me to get lost

Try getting something out of [name your vehicle manufacturer here] for a six year old vehicle that blows up - just for one example.

The Interweb is a useful tool in such a quest though, no doubt about it

I think that's assuming that there was no goodwill there though, which is not necessarily true, I think they probably would have reacted the same if I had approached them without posting but we'll never know. It is also not necessarily true that a bit of bad press does a lot of damage to a company reputation, there are a lot of "opinions" on the internet after all!

Also, look at some of the comments on Land Rover forums about some of the products - and about some suppliers. LR, and the other suppliers, don't all rush around fixing their problems way out of warranty despite all the adverse publicity. The companies that get the most abuse hurled at them (a certain Sc**** Rac***g for example) seem to be doing just fine despite this.

I was happy with Humbers reaction to the issue anyway, and even happier with the assistance given on this forum which was A1
