rotomoulding is not the same thing as injection moulding. I'm not aware of any injection moulded tenders (the only I.M. boat I know of is the topper). I.M. opens up a different range of polymers, but are limited in size (the topper was, and may still be, the biggest IM tool in any industry) and generally more expensive and complex. Rotomoulding brings some benefits (no inherent stress from moulding), larger parts, lower cost tooling and machinery, and is used for tenders, kayaks, dinghies (including performance boats as well as simpler training boats) and powerboats (I think up to 8m long)

FunYak is just one brand of rotomoulded boats - others at the tender size include Pioneer, Marine Revolution, Plastimo, WalkerBay (available with inflatable tube option!), Tabrum...

Another plastic boat option would be - Bic (as in the pens!) who make a range of thermoformed (from Sheets I believe) boats which are antitheft because of their ugliness! This includes a model called "Sportsyak" Googling tabur yak brings up images of something very similar - so either a previous name / splash! / foreign name.

EDIT: Oh but the canoe/kayak option might be worth some thought - it would be usable not just as a tender but also when fuel becomes so expensive you can't afford to go out any more or when the opti falls to pieces again and you are left high and dry!
