Heat activated Hypalon Adhesive?

In the attached thread, the OP mentions a heat activated adhesive. Can anyone offer information and opinions on this type of glue for hypalon?

S4Simon said that he uses Bostik 1669 for Hypalon. It is a heat activated PU adhesive that can be used with hardeners and primers. It is used commercially for attaching shoe soles. It is not available in N. America. RH products has a similar product that I have seen mentioned called HH-66, but the company rep told me that they have had mixed results with hypalon applications, and they don't offer the additives to enhance crosslinking like Bostik does.

I would really like to find a heat activated product that will allow me to reposition the material as I attach it. Any ideas?

There is a glue that a buddy uses in drysuit repair. The bond is similar to Aquaseal (i.e it's a polyurethane adhesive), but is brushed on, allowed to cure (about 1/2 - 1 hour), then a heat gun re-softens the adhesive.

I'll see if I can get more info on it (he always refers to it as heat activated glue.)

Okay; so my buddy responded with some fricking huge, out of focus images of the can he gets the stuff in.

The "name" is UR1087SDHV; manufacturer is:
Royal Adhesives and Sealants, LLC
Aerospace and Marine Inflatable Adhesives and Coatings Division
48 Burgess Pl
Wayne, NJ 07470
(973) 694-0845

You'll have to contact them for suitability with your application, but they can probably advise if they have a more suitable product if it won't work.

Luck;

jky

Thanks. I contacted the manufacturer. It looks like the same company that makes Clifton hypalon adhesive which I have used.
