HBI 21.6

Does anyone have experience with a 21.6 HBI 1991 vintage. I have one with the high transom and double decked hull, a very solid Raymond Hunt design. I have an older 1985 200hp Johnson and it goes 35mph. I am considering $5600 tubes as it has none, but drives very well in the large California lakes without them (it's self bailing and double decked) Is this boat worth the investment compared to other makes? What do rib people think of the HBI make? If I go for the tubes I will have invested abut $11,000 in her. Is it worth it? It's an old gray ex Navy vessel but something about the solide hull and design goads me on. Feedback please!
