For information - members of the public do not get to "call out" the RNLI - unless they have the local LOM on speed dial

All communications on channel 16 or 999 is with the Maritime & Coastguard Agency and it is only they who can officially task the RNLI to launch which would not have been the first response in this scenario.

However glad to hear that you and the other craft managed to RTB safely

The rnli are always 'asked' not tasked.

Saw you towing something big and yellow the other day heading into Poole. Looked like a banana boat from where I was!

Apologies - my understanding is that the RNLI are 'asked' or 'requested' to launch (as they are independant thay can't be told or ordered or 'tasked' to launch) - someone then says 'OK' and then the Coastguard 'tasks' them to a casualty.......................................... .................................................. .................................................. .......................................

( no idea what was referred to about google ? Can you explain ? )

They are tasked. They can say no. The day they say no is the day they end their reason for existing. You're debating this micropoint with RNLI crew. What's your point?
