Hard to plane

My RIB struggles to plane in the chop and it not much better in the calm seas....I have a vailiant pt520 mariner 90....really need to get it sort ..stopping me fun...

90hp should be plenty of grunt to get that on the plane.

what is max RPM your seeing?

how many are aboard when this happens?

What prop do you have on?
I assume that the engine has Power Trim and you know how to use it (down till on the plane then up till going fast - basically).
Could the inside of the hull be full of water.
What speed are you getting?

And......is the hull clean. If permanently on the water growth can have a dramatic effect on performance

More Qs..... If it's an Optimax, any lights on the dials that might hint it's in "get you home" mode?

Does it sound like it's labouring? (I guess it will have electronic rev. limiting so shouldn't go the other way)

Is the engine secondhand? If so, any idea what it was pushing along before it met your rib? (prrop likely sized for previous job, as mine was)
