Halmatic Arctic's

Greetings All
Can anyone give me any info on this model.
I know Hugo reviewed the latest model in the last year and they are the outboard version of the Paciffic.
Im looking at a second hand version and re engining it, can't afford to buy a new hull as well as an engine
I was told they were bomb proof and to be very careful of the ex mil 28 foot units as the SBS had/have these and like throughing them out of planes and parachuting down to them thats got to shorten the hull's life expectancy

We have carried them on ship's I have been on with a detachment of SBS....good boats and fast ...but as with all MOD boats..watch for serious abuse....the RN RIB driving course ....is fair to say best left to the RN....I have been out doing a boat transfer to a warship from mine in a force 7 and the searider cox just didn' have a clue...
Are u staying with petrol outboards?? Good for about 50+ knots..with the right engines...heavy boats though due to commercial spec...The Pacific 22 we carry cost £95,000 a piece...

What size of rib are you thinking of ? There is a nice 6.6m delta for sale here. Used to belong to a guy called John Dere, watched him tow another rib all through the night in stormy seas with it on the way to the Isle of Man one year. Its a lot of boat for £7k, and cash might be worth another £500 off.

With very little experience of ribs , I have bought an arctic 22 hull, which requires new tubes and an engine. Be aware that if you are going to re-engine this particular boat with a single outboard then the transom measures 25" which requires an extra long shaft. 2nd hand these are very rare. Hope this helps.

So did Peter Wright and he wrote "Spy Catcher" so come on spill the beans. Lets start with Arctic 22, 24 and 28. Any Pacifics ? how about that horrible matt green thing that used to lurk about Poole harbour then disappear very quickly as the Harbour Master turned a blind eye ? an Avon by chance or just a few sibs ?

Airborne in the other sence!

Okay, having been on a course in the passed with the ladies and gents of S. Cerney and hearing stories about their idea of the game of Darts - anything is possible!!!
I know that the 28 footers were often seen in the Poole area and there are photos of them dangling from parachutes and helicopters published on the web, etc.
Don't they also play with the things that go in & out of Halmatic's yard only at night?
As for the 22's we occationally saw them around the navy dockyards and onboard some of the ships though Pacific's were more common.
I was hoping to find one that hasn't been airborne
I guess if it has been dropped there would be a large shock load on the transom and hull flex if thats possible. Thus look at the normal points to check when buying second hand.
The tubes were built by Henshaws originally (on a track system so they could be changed easily I seem to remember). Fill Smiff are yours leaking or just tatty? if just tatty a coat of paint might be the answer if they are double lined.
