He will defo be on more candy than than the Manc Harbour Master cos I don't think that there is one

Yes. Not too happy about that.

Otherwise I'm generally OK with the way the harbour is run and the outgoing chap has done his bit to redeem Salcombe from the bad rep it had.

Just need to ban the dinghy racing from the harbour when I'm passing through and it'll be perfect.

Residents rise to the top of the list as far as I know ................

Don't forget it was his idea to move the speed limit out as far as it is now - totally pointless IMHO.

That is a bit of a nuisance. I suppose it covers the limits of harbour authority and there perhaps may be an issue of liability. There are times when it does get busy with all sorts of craft funneling into and out of the channel as well.

I know someone who has been warned about speed in that area, too. If pushed I might admit to opening up the taps before I should when there's not many about.

Last winter/spring there were no speed limit warning bouys until the season got going. I haven't been over the bar since October (due to weather, daylight and tides) to see if they have been taken in.

Proper high tide this morning, wasn't it? Lots of the newly placed sea defence boulders at Beesands have been washed off the beach!

They bring them in for the winter.

Nothing much happened in Salcombe to write home about, some water got in the streets but most places are used to it - Probably go for Sunday lunch at the Cricket in soon so I'll have a look - where were the new boulders - alongside the road?

They've been working along from the kids playground towards the cellars. Usually they place big FO boulders but this year it's been properly small stuff that doesn't take much to wash out. The old gabions have really fallen apart the last couple of years and they've not been replaced. which doesn't help. The whole beach looks really steep, too. Along by the Cricket the wooden beach steps are exposed, which is unusual. Enjoy your lunch!

I saw some facebook video of waves braking over Torcross sea wall - reminded me of the big storm that did all the damage.

We need a spell of gentle easterlies to bring the beaches back in!

Beesands this morning! The road was around 30' wide with sea defence boulders in front of the beach. The road has actually gone in several spots. There are a few houses at the end now nearly cut off, although they can drive across the green for access. The council owns the land and has just spent IRO £100K repairing the sea defences.
