Just recieved this from QHM.

More work for Ribald.

VESSELS WISHING TO VISIT GUNWHARF QUAYS LNTM 38/04

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN jointly by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth and Portsmouth Commercial Port Harbour Master that the procedure below is to be followed by all traffic wishing to make use of the berthing facilities at Gunwharf Quays.

2. Any vessel requiring access to Gunwharf Quays must make a booking in advance either by telephone 02392 836732 or on VHF Channels 80. Vessels without such a booking will not be permitted to cross the harbour to approach the entrance to Gunwharf Quays.

3. Mariners are reminded of the general rules for entering and leaving Portsmouth Harbour contained in LNTM 06/04.

There has always been a thing on the Gunwarf website saying that boats should have a booking and that QHM will allow only boats with a booking accross. However, as was discussed on here not so long ago, this doesn't really seem to be enforced.

I went in the other day without a booking, no problem at all. The pontoons were pretty empty - I paid my £6 and they were happy.

I'm sure QHM has better things to do than check you off on a sheet of reservations!

Hi all,

You can still cross the harbour to enter the camber dock and visit the pub. Then stick your nose into Gun Wharf and perfectly legal eh pete

I think you might be supprised.
You are dealing with the armed forces here and they love paperwork as seen in todays bulitin about the Global Challenge race start.

QHM as required of permitted vessels. Vessels whose names do not appear on the advice sheet will not be allowed to cross the harbour from Ballast Buoy.
