Grumpy Old Ribster.

We've had two great days out with the SR this weekend. The kids have been flying about with it pretty much solidly all w/end. Coming back from Molullnan beach this eve we had 6 pob and level to the tube tops with gear, she only just got on the plane. It's proved to be a great little w/board tug.
Manage to muller the prop yesterday, a twat of a local 'hobby' pot fisherman had attached 30m of floating poly-prop shite to a half sunken pick-up bouy. A cruiser got in a right mess with another next to it after I'd ripped one off of the seabed.

Here's the grumpy observation, since I've been running the SR I've noticed how differently we're treated around the harbour. I've had idiots trying to reverse around me on the slip to jump the queue, Scrap speedboat owners giving me launch/recovery advice. A guy with a scouse accent in a 5.5 Rimini drifting astern, all but into us in a tight area below the slip, and then giving US a bollocking was probably the lowlight of the weekend.
Spose' the Vmax is too big to nip 'round on a slip.
All good fun eh?

Ah, but did you get a lobster out of the pot?

I used to get the same crap when I had the SR4. There's ways round it. Telling the morons that you'd help, but it's overtime rate at weekends and £125 an hour helps

I'm nearly there, 4 lengths of 4x2 and a set of wheelbarrow wheels.

Now I'm getting really p'd off. I bought a replacement Cornwall boat flag from a shower on Ebay. The thing turned out to be off such poor quality, it would've fallen to bits at anything over 5knts. When I brought to the sellers attention, they bombarded me with a pile of bollox insults about being 'non-West Country' as I'd dared to criticize the shite they'd sent me. They're base in Devon.

Mollers,

I think your problem might be your SR looks too amatuerish - you need to show that you are really competent by adorning it with duck tape - otherwise people will assume your new to RIBs!

I've experienced the "your boat is small therefore you must be clueless" issue before (thats not to say I'm not clueless - but at least let me f**k up first of all!). However I've also been flagged over by someone trying to pay me mooring fees because "you just looked properly kitted out".

I guess we all jump to conclusions too quickly - I mean i'd probably assume someone with a vipermax was pretty clued up - and we know thats not always the case

seems the weekend brings the idiots out as well.

we did have a laugh at Easthead on saturday evening. usual story, lots of boats anchored enjoying the evening, people swimming. 4 young guys on a little rib come through the anchorage on the plane, they clearly hadnt seen the sand bar as they hit it at about 15 kts!!

engine made some funny noises which could be heard over our laughter!!!
