Just out on Sea Safari 1 and spotted 4 fast ribs about a mile off Durlston Head. One out front and three chasing......I assume it was you guys.

A great last day by the look of it, calm sea, sunshine and generally great boating weather. We would have come to chase you but we were in a cave at the time !

Great reading. Thanks for the blog. Would love to do it one day, though over a longer period and take in the sights. Glad you've nearly made it!

Day 12 - Wednesday 23rd June. Brighton to Portland Marina (and then home to Poole)

The last day dawned to a clear blue sky and a flat calm sea off Brighton. Clearly we were to be blessed. Overall weíve had some good weather, inevitably some days have been windy - you canít reasonably expect to boat around the UK coast for 12 days and not get wind - however we were really lucky to have only had a small amount of rain. Even one day with wet gear made me realise how horrible it would be with wet kit. A few of us got breakfast to find the Cool Runnings guys there. Seems they had solved the fuel issue at 9pm the previous night, got to Ramsgate at 10.30pm stayed there then departed at 4.30am for Brighton. I havenít really got to know the guys as they clearly werenít there for much of the time and it a real shame that they had such a hard time but they were hugely persistent in achieving what they did.

We headed along the coast towards the Solent entering what I tend to feel is home territory. The Solent was its usual busy self although we happened upon a Superyacht going flat out in the Eastern Solent. This created some great shots getting Bluewater Raven alongside. We headed out through the North Channel past Milford on Sea for a flyby then out to the Needles for a few photos with the other boats. We had aimed to group at Lulworth but the range was firing so we aimed for Anvil Point instead. A slight technical hitch with our leaders navigation had led him to St Albans Head instead - whatís a headland or two between friends. We ran towards Portland as a group getting some great photos. Once inside the harbour the camera crew came out and cruised around getting shots. We tied up and a few families had travelled down (my guys included) which was great. We got a few celebratory drinks in and starting comparing the size of the waves again. Too soon it was time to head back to Poole so we fuelled and headed back with Hannah and Sam taking turns to drive. Back in Poole for the second half of the footy and England qualify - perhaps weíre a good omen!

So Iím back in Poole after 13 days away and its certainly nice to be back. It feels strange to not face a hundred or so miles tomorrow - perhaps Iíll drive a boat round Brownsea Island a few times to wind down. Iím now faced with getting back to the (great) day job and rebuilding some bridges with those I have left to deal with everything for so long having been away for 8 of the last 10 weeks. Over the next few days Iíll pen some thoughts about the kit weíve used and how its fared and any ideas that come to me. Equally if any one has any questions Iíll do my best to answer them. Iíll also post a miles/hours/fuel log.

PS: Yes, it will have been us off Durlston

I think the superyacht on The Eastern Solent is a new Palmer Johnson craft which I think they planned for sea trials this week , one amazing craft.

Have to say well done to all concerned on the circumnavigation and echo others replies about the interest you have generated with the updates.
