Got a RIB at last!!
Just got this 4m searider on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...id=p2759.l1259
Didn't really want any kind of project but I've got one now, hopefully it will just be a case of getting an engine (Advice on a good one please), Jockey seat and steering.

That's your Autumn/Winter sorted then
It looks as if it's an old 'Deluxe', which has been de-screened and the bucket seats swapped for a home-brew plywood console. At a guess, older than '91 - hull serial no. will tell you its year of manufacture. A tidy GRP jockey console would do the trick nicely - these come up on ebay from time to time.
Motor - I'd recommend a 3-cyl Yam 50 2-stroke, or if you don't mind exceeding the 50hp max hull rating, a Soozook 55/65 (same motor).
Good luck with it

Cheers mate, I think I've read someone else saying that a 3cyl yam 50 goes well. Just a matter of finding one now.
Another thing, (and please remember I'm new to outboards bigger than 2.5hp tenders) is power tilt/trim worth the extra?
And how do you explain to the wife that you've just bought a boat?

Yep-or the 3 cyl mariner works well too.

Jockey seat first then, try Poolside Mouldings, half way between Preston and St Annes left off the A55, make fishing dorys but also have lots of moulds. Alternatively Ospreys Moulders Mike and Ralph are in Leyland. Also keep an eye on E Bay, Barnet Marine often sell of seconds.
Engine, don't go to Bill Highman, you can't afford it. Try John at A1 National for a second hand 40 hp. Think he is a member of Ribnet, also worth checking the trade directory on here too. Jono Gorton on here worth a phone call to see if he has anything suitable.
You have a good base for a project, there might be some real bargins for her once the winter sets in and a nice Ex RNLI Mariner 40 tuns up, bit more lumpy than the 3 cyl engines but petty bomb proof.

Yep-same model as mine was. Ref the console, ask RickUK3 on here-sure he could get you a jockey console.
I'm not really a fan of the cheaper suzooks-seen too much corrosion on them I'd stick with Yam or Mariner.

I can vouch for the 50 2 stroke , and for me tiller steer is so much more fun and easier to handle in a small boat , also gives you more room than a much bigger boat with a console and sitting at the back when its lumpy is a real advantage , imo
I like my Tohatsu 50 but they all seem to be hard to find secondhand .
