Looks like I'll have to pay the extra and go to someone like BH for an engine as my time is taken up with work, 6 day old baby and the other 6 kids.
Any other outboard sellers near to the northwest?

Steady on JSP - you don't need a motor yet. Keep an eye out for something over the next couple of months. You probably won't be using the boat before March in any case.

It looks like the project of fixing up the boat up could take you some time, surely whilst that part of the project is going on you can keep one eye open for a good deal.

I really wouldn't go spending over the odds at BH if I were you, his prices are just ridiculous!

Keep scanning B&O, ebay and your local free ads paper and something will come up

Any of you chaps on the south coast prepared to go take a looksee for him?

If it's decent you could always ask them to stick it on a pallet...

Thanks Andy, funny enough I had jusy emailed them about that engine and logged back on here to ask about it.
And I need this Rib done as it will be my bolt hole! That's why I promised myself I wouldn't take a project on. (Also promised meself no more than 3 kids!)

The 50 Yam or the 55 Soozook will be just the job then.

Tough decision - depends how much importance you put on PTT & E/S (and the £300 price difference)

Right don't shout, 50HP Evinrude 4 stroke £1900. I know to heavy but it looks and sounds like a good example on paper. It would be a case of cutting a hole in the bottom of the hull to see where I'm going wouldn't it?

As I posted previously, RIBInternashinul ran a SR4 with a 50 Yam 4-stroke and they found it stern heavy - you may find details on their website or in one of their recent mags. The weight problem could be addressed by carrying the fuel load forward, along with anchor, etc., but there's not a lot of deck space on a SR4, so it may get a bit cluttered. You'd normally keep this kit inside the console.

I'm doing a PB2 course at Northney Marina next weekend (11/12th) and can have a nose around if that's any use to you? Don't have much experience of those motors but can check the general condition/running etc.

Hi JSP you could try Ian at Liverpool powerboats he`s not far away from you and I can definately recommend him. Also I think ive seen a few s/h 40/50hp etecs on Boatsandoutboards they are very light and are powerful. Be careful about BH there`s been a few dodgy stories about them.
I have put a few ribs together and i`m not far from Southport you can pm me if you like i`ll be happy to help if I can.
