Good pub in Caernofan??

Hi All, I was following the round Angelsey event thread and someone mentioned an interesting pub in Caernofan N.Wales. Ive been to the Black Buoy but I got the feeling there are others with a bit of character. Any suggestions? Nik

In the town centre, you won't find anything more characterful than The Black Boy, good beer too👍 There's the one down on the waterfront by the footbridge across the harbour, but it's nothing special in terms of character.

the black buoy is the best, but does get very busy, it's quieter midweek especially for a late lunch
the Anglesey is ok for a pint, nice watching the sunset with a good pint, not tried the food so can't comment, get very busy Friday & Saturday nights
the ship & castle in Bangor street has a good reputation with the locals, not tried it myself yet but it's on the to do list a couple of doors up the road is the curry scene, can definitely reccomend that for a great curry, friendly staff and cheap to, pick your beer up next door at the bargain booze
just outside Caernarfon in Bontnewydd on the Pwhelli road is the newbourgh arms, not been in for a while but it does seem to have a good reputation locally and a few on here have given it the thumbs up!
there's the harbour over looking the marina, it's a table table "restaurant" service is poor, beer not much better, but the view over the marina is nice if you want to sit outside on a nice evening! the best bit is its next door to Fu's, a cracking Cantonese restaurant, well worth a visit

Hoping to get the boat out this weekend from Chris's boat launch at TY Calch . If we want to call in for a pint it sounds like the Black Boy is a good choice especially as my local is called the same !
Not done that area at all is it easy to pull up and tie up and if so where ?

The BB is in the town centre so not readily accessible by boat. If you want boat+beer, it's the Gazelle. You might be able to tie up in Victoria Dock for a couple of hours to visit the BB, but never done it so can't advise, sorry.

Good pub in Caernofan??

If you are launching at Ty Calch the best thing to do is turn left, follow the buoys out through Caernarfon bar and head down to the Ty Coch at Porth Dinllaen, a lovely run in boat, a great location for a pub and the beer always tastes great 👍🏾

You can also go to the Anglesey arms alongside the castle in Caernarfon near high tide, it's just by the bridge/river. Tie up and have a pint. You don't get long before the channel gets shallow.

Then there's a pub just next to Porth Dinorwic marina, with a jetty in front. OK until about half tide.

Most easily accessible for lunch is to tie up on the inside of the floating pontoon (fully tidal) in Menai after a run through the Swellies, and walk the 50m to Dylan's restaurant so you can see your boat and the famous bridge. V nice food but book if it's peak time.

Gazelle is a bit further up, great for a beer and view, opposite Bangor pier, average for food. Can tie up for up to about 80% of tide.

you can tie up alongside the Anglesey In Caernarfon, the beers not bad at the moment so I've heard and you're ok for a few hours either side of high tide but looking at the forecast for this weekend I'd be wanting a flask of hot coffee meself
