Good price?

What do ye make of this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RIBTEC-7-9M_W0...QQcmdZViewItem

And on boatshed (with more pics):
http://www.boatshed.co.uk/viewboat.php?boat=24114

The tubes look very worn, but a good polish might bring them up?

The boat is about 8 or 9 years old but there aren't too many hours on the engine. Loads of photos so nothing to hide. I wouldn't buy without a proper look first though. If it's sound it would be a great buy.

I've e-mailed the seller a few times, no response (eBay)... Don't want to go through BoatShed if possible, prefer a direct private sale where I can actually talk and meet the buyer.. I'll keep trying

Assuming it's got nothing major to hide then I'd say it looks like a genuine bargain.

There may not be much you can do with the tubes as it looks like the blue hypalon has faded in the sunlight, but it's probably only cosmetic.

It's all well and good saying that, but you know you want your pride and joy to be perfect - I'd probably en dup getting the damn thing re-tubed!

I'm surprised that she hasn't sold though, I mean that's an excellent price and she's been on the market for a long time (I can remember seeing it for sale last season) .... Wonder if someone local to it would be willing to inspect it. Worn tubes wouldn't bother me as long as they were sound mechanically

The seller rang me a couple of days ago

Yup, I spotted it on Boatshed over 6 months ago for sale, when I asked the seller how long its been for sale he said "Not long, about 3 months" ... This rang alarm bells as he was obviously lying.

However he seemed genuine. Something that startled me though, was on Boatsheds site it says "Serviced every 50 hours", and the owner was honest enough to say that it hadn't been serviced in 18 months, but hasn't done many hours. Thing is, every season, even if I only put on 10 hours i'd give my boat/engine a full service.

That'd put me off a bit.

I've had problems with crankshafts being 'pickled' by the used oil they were in while lying idle on car and bike engines. The inevitable result is a big bill as mains/big/small ends wear rapidly and die.

I don't think anyone will admit their boat has been for sale for ages. I think they may still be genuine just eloquent on their sales position!

If anybody asks me if a boat has had any interest I always say "yeah loads"!

I suspect he will be genuine and don't forget big boats don't shift anywhere near as fast a 5-6m boats, particularly big diesels.

Having a think about it, don't think it would not be the boat for me. It's 8-9 years old and needs quite a lot of work. The only thing I wouldn't be interested in doing myself is the tubes, which could cost a lot of money. Spraying the console/engine cover is no problem, but I wouldn't have the time (College isint as much as a doss as people are led to believe)

I'd be suspicious about the Buy it Now. Who buys a boat without even looking at it? Well, when the seller contacted me 2 days ago he said that no one from eBay had emailed him asking for a look. Unless it was someone else that viewed it before, and saw the price and was happy with it
