I hit a Bee at 35 knotts whilst out in the Summer and it bloody hurt! Granted it wasn't in the eye but was on the cheek, so pretty close. It fell down and onto the Console. I'm also pleased to report that once it had headbutted me it flew off again

I got mine from www.axminster.co.uk Uvex Ultra Vision Safety Goggles and Face Shield. (310225 and 310224). They're quite comfortable with the face shield attached. The shield hasn't blown off yet (25-30knts) and works well. Also got Uvex Ultra Comfort Safety Goggles (310226). They are really comfortable.

The Comfort don't steam up, the Vision, with the face shield clear as soon as I get under way and once warm don't steam up.

Both types fit over my glasses. I'm very pleased with both sets.

I have used both goggles and the Phace off mask [which I got from JK] IMO When its rough and [or] cold the Phace off wins out,as it covers the whole face and water just flows off[instead of down your neck].They do come with tinted lenses too,I found it a good idea to drill some holes in the mouth piece[as specified] to stop it fogging when you are wrapped right up.

I've been using these:

<http://www.screwfix.com/prods/28278/Workwear-PPE/Protective-Clothing/Eye-Protection/Pulsafe-Sperian-Amber-Lens-Safety-Specs>

with tolerable results.

And if anyone would like to try some out, there's a pair somewhere between Wee Cumbrae and Bute...

(Don't put lightweight items on top of liferaft casing when doing 25 kts groundspeed into 25 kts of wind. Just a hint.)

I bought a few pairs of ski goggles (cheap) and use them. They go over my glasses great. The extra pairs are for guests on the boat or when mine take wings !!
